Banquet Captain

Overview

Responsibilities

  • Reviews assigned banquet staff functions, banquet menus prior to the scheduled event.
  • Conducts pre-banquet meetings with staff to: ensure appearance and hygiene standards are being met; assign stations and partners; and review banquet event orders.
  • Communicates with the Executive Chef / Kitchen Manager or event coordinator to ensure that all details have been planned for and met. Ensures that changes and further instructions are made in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available for upcoming events. Secure requisitions for those items not available in inventory.
  • Checks room set-up prior to event and meets with Executive Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
  • Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e. china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and their proper storage after use.
  • Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service. Ensures that: food is served at appropriate temperature; food is placed properly on the table; sufficient food is available; and up sell opportunities are met.
  • Regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes, calendar of events, and special events.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).

The Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They must be personable, professional and able to work in an ever changing fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Must demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellent in the areas of guest service, interaction with co-workers and uniform standards.

Overview

Undersupervision of Sales & Marketing Manager, and Events Manager responsible for ticketsales and customerservice for all ticketed events at the Nampa Civic Center.

Responsibilities

Know and understand the operations of the Paciolan ticketing system

Concessions Manager

The Concessions Manager is responsible for the effective management of venue concessions operations including inventory controls, product ordering, training new employees, cash controls, compliance with alcohol service polices, cleaning, safety, guest service, employee/volunteer training and supervision, warehouse oversight, troubleshooting, closing duties, event planning support, food preparation and production, and any other tasks assigned by the DFB.  The Concessions Manager must be provide a high level of event oversight, technical proficiency and operational/personnel support to ensure the smooth operation of the Arena & Concessions Dept. 

 

The Concessions Manager will actively supervise, coach, counsel, direct, train and mentor employees in meeting company quality standards, and will may initiate or recommend employment actions such as hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, promotion and transfer.  The CM will provide oversight and resolution responsibility for employee performance issues.  Actively and independently manage all aspects of employee relations to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant and cooperative work environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule including evenings and weekends.  Flexible availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction and strong technical (computer and POS) aptitude are required.  

 

This role will pay a salary of $50,000 to $55,000.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing, developing and mentoring a staff of part time and full time concessions employees, including initiating employee discipline as required. Responsible for completing documentation of employee performance and attendance issues in accordance with company policy and practice.
  • Ensure proper set-up of all concessions locations prior to doors. Set-up duties may include: verifying opening inventory, assigning duties to concession workers (employee/volunteer), ensuring sanitation standards are met, verifying that each location is fully operational, ascertaining levels of food production based upon projected guest attendance has been met; assuring that SL or NFP Stand Leader has followed proper procedures for distribution and handling of cash.
  • Provide a high level of oversight and operational expertise resulting in the smooth, efficient and profitable execution of events.
  • Ability to oversee a large volume of inventory, order product, and manage high volume sales.
  • Manage and run all venue concessions operations before, during and after the event. Duties include staff scheduling, employee check-in, equipment inspection, POS monitoring and troubleshooting, guest complaint resolution, training, food production, clean-up, post-event reconciliation and reporting, and any other duties as assigned by the DFB.
  • Training new & current employees with regarding to property procedure & best practices.
  • Willing to cover / back-up any open position to assure location is fully operational and company standards pertaining to speed of service and guest satisfaction are met; assist with Premium Services operations and event needs, as directed.
  • Provide direction and oversight to Concessions Supervisors, Stand Managers, Concession Cooks, and Cashiers. Ensure that all State / Federal, OVG and IEC policies, procedures and practices are adhered to, including compliance with alcohol distribution / service and food handling / sanitation guidelines, general safety policies and procedures.  Report any alcohol service or other compliance issues to DFB immediately.
  • Complete post-event evaluations, data compilation, tracking of monetary and product shortages, generating reports; serves as a resource for POS applications and training.
  • Ensure work environment is safe and free from harassment or discrimination; immediately address all safety concerns, potential hazards, accidents or incidents. Relays safety/health issues to management immediately.
  • Ensure event staff and volunteers are aware of work place expectations; provide on-going assistance, training and mentoring to event staff and volunteers; promote a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative workplace environment by working side-by-side with staff and volunteers; reinforce procedures and practices through repetition; lead by example and provide on-going constructive feedback.
  • Ability to obtain working knowledge of all existing concession locations: geographical locations, equipment, evacuation procedures, adjacent employee and guest areas and facility access.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or greater in Culinary Management, Business Management, or related field; along with two or more years’ experience in Concessions Management, other Food & Beverage Management, or related experience.
  • Degree requirement may be substituted for four or more years’ experience in Concessions Supervision, Food & Beverage Management or related position.
  • Solid working knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft office, POS systems, timekeeping system.

Cook - Part Time

The Cook is responsible for preparing menu items utilizing cooking equipment in a fast-paced environment. The Cook must adhere to high food quality standards to ensure guest satisfaction.  Portion control, food waste and sanitation are additional areas that the Cook must be aware of while operating in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cooking and packaging food product which is prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
  • Receives verbal orders from the front counter staff for food product requirements for guest orders.

Overview

The Director of Food & Beverage is responsible for overseeing the direction of the kitchen’s daily activities in accordance with OVG policies and objectives to ensure guest satisfaction, profitability and positive, productive and compliant work environment. The Director of Food & Beverage is solely responsible for the effective management and operation of the culinary team including event planning support, scheduling, food preparation and production, food cost control, compliance with food safety and sanitation policies, cleaning, kitchen safety, employee training and supervision. The Director of Food & Beverage must provide a high level of oversight, culinary proficiency and operational/personnel support to ensure the smooth running of all food outlets and events.

 

The Director of Food & Beverage is responsible for ensuring quality food and beverage is served to the guests. The Director of Food & beverage will assist the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking meats, soups and sauces and supervise all other aspects of the food and beverage operations. The Director of Food & Beverage is responsible for the training of all kitchen staff. The Director of Food & Beverage must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule which to evenings and weekends. Qualifications

Overview

Utilizing initiative and independent judgment, the Facility Director leads in planning, directing and managing the day-to-day operations of the Nampa Civic Center, including sales & marketing, finance, event services, operations, human resources, public safety, production, union related issues, and facility maintenance. This role will work in conjunction with the General Manager who has overall management of the venue. Supervision is exercised over professional staff, who directs various sections in day-to-day operations. Responsibility further includes evaluation and development of recommendations to improve organizational administration, procedures, policies, and programs. Unusual problems and major changes in programs or policy are discussed with the General Manager. 

 

This role will pay a salary of $67,000 to $72,000.

About the Venue

The Nampa Civic Center is a multifunctional conference center and theater. The conference center consists of several banquet rooms, meeting spaces, outdoor garden areas, and smaller meeting spaces. The theater is 640 seats and commonly hosts touring shows, dance, theater, and other events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, directing and managing the day-to-day operations of the Center, including booking, sales & marketing, finance, event services, operations, human resources, public safety, production, union related issues, and facility maintenance. 
  • Maintains active contact with the General Manager. Monitors OVG’s compliance with all provisions of the management contract. 
  • Actively promotes the use of the facility to maximize its utilization. 
  • Negotiates contracts and agreements with event organizers, hosts, managers and agents. 
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the Client/Contract Administrator, tenants, government departments and agencies, entertainment/convention industry, community and civic organizations to encourage continual and regular use of the facility. 
  • Coordinates facility involvement with stakeholders such as the City of Nampa & Nampa Chamber of Commerce, as well as other appropriate destination marketing agencies. 
  • Assures the coordination, implementation and administration of specific plans and programs prescribed by corporate directives, to include: matters of training and development; quality assurance; energy efficiency; safety/emergency procedures, crowd control and crisis management procedures, or other areas as needed. 
  • Develops and implements facility goals in accordance with the management contract, the Client’s objectives, corporate policy, and good business practice. 
  • Prepares and maintains required and necessary reports/records for the Client/Contract Administrator and for the Corporate Office. 
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs all activities and personnel engaged in maintaining and operating the facility. 
  • Assists and coordinates with the development of the annual operating calendar, activity schedules, projections for attendance and/or revenue. 
  • Assist the General Manager in the development and administration of the facility’s operating and capital budgets. Work directly with the department managers in developing departmental operating budgets and revenue projections. 
  • Recruit, select, lead, motivate and evaluate manager level staff; provide or coordinate training as needed; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures. 
  • Work with the departmental managers in the day to day management of their various departmental disciplines; review and evaluate processes and results; identify and resolve deficiencies and challenges. 
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. 
  • Develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures for the Center. 
  • Assist the General Manager in the oversight of the facility’s contract service partners. 
  • Develop or direct the development and preparation of comprehensive management reports and manuals (i.e. Operations Manual, Event Handbook, Annual Sales & Marketing Plan, Annual Preventative Maintenance Plan, Annual Facility Report, Booking Policies, Fire Code Rules & Regulations, etc.) 
  • Participate and leads various interdepartmental project groups, special projects, and task forces. 
  • Conduct a variety of organizational studies, investigations, and operational studies; recommend modifications to programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate. 
  • Represent the General Manager as needed at various meetings. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, facility stakeholders and facility users. 
  • Provide an extremely high level of customer service at all times. 
  • Routinely act as Manager on Duty for events utilizing the venue
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of direct supervisory experience at the director and/or manager level 
  • 5+ years progressively responsible experience in a leadership role 
  • Experience in facility operations preferred 
  • Experience opening a convention center or similar type public assembly venue preferred 
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university  
  • Knowledge of EEOC, FLSA, OSHA, ADA and other industry related legal issues. 
  • Must have computer skills in Microsoft office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, and internet software. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended numbers of days.

Guest Service Attendant is an on-call, per event employee who will act as primary provider of direct service to guests as they are entertained at the Nampa Civic Center  They are responsible for providing a safe environment for our guests and ensuring all service needs are met.  Guest Service Attendants will work in positions as needed including; usher, ticket taker, and door guards.

Our facility provides nine conference meeting rooms and an outdoor venue.  We have an unique ability to host banquets, meetings, plays, music tributes, musicals, celebrations, competitions, dinner theatre and weddings. Annually we host over 125,000 guests and 850 events.

  • Provide exceptional customer service and assistance to all guests
  • Greet and scan tickets as guests enter the building

Operations Coordinator

The Operations Coordinator supervises and directs the day-to-day operations of the facilities. The position provides leadership and direction to part-time staff about building policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operation of all event changeovers, i.e. basketball floor, stage risers, chairs, and signs
  • Performs routine to moderate tasks maintaining livestock arena, exercise arena, stall barn, facility floors, chairs, staging, risers, and other inventory as needed.
  • Oversees housekeeping services for the facilities
  • Assign work activities, monitor work flow, identify and resolve common operational issues
  • Maintain an accurate record keeping system for hazardous materials communication program
  • Interacting with clients, serving their needs within the confines of state and local laws, and provides physical facility needs and performs custodial duties.
  • Performs moderate to difficult set-ups in livestock facilities and works around some livestock.
  • Performs operation of machinery, included fork lifts, skid steer, tractor, and pick-up trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of all venue and exhibition & convention spaces
  • Interview, select, train, coach, evaluate, and discipline full and part time staff. Position will deliver a termination with approval.

  • Deliver and follow up on Performance Improvement procedures on a timely basis
  • Ensure staff is working safely and are aware of proper safety guidelines

  • Two (2) or more years’ experience in an operations position in an arena, convention center, public assembly facility or similar location; with knowledge of set up/housekeeping and event coordination
  • An advanced degree in Facility Management or related field may be substituted for years of experience
  • Basic computer skills in a Windows format including typing, data entry and email
  • Ability to effectively operate a company provided cell phone for phone, email, text.
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with MS Word, Outlook, Excel preferred

Physical demands:

While performing duties of this job, the employee occasionally lifts and moves facility equipment and/or tools.  Employee will frequently move about inside and outside various areas of the large facility before/during/after events to interact with internal/external clients and supervise the work of employees. Position will require employee to occasionally bend, stoop, or crouch in order to evaluate and inspect equipment and building infrastructure. Employee will as needed operate fork lift and high lift in assessment of and maintenance of the building and equipment. Employee will occasionally be required to identify or match colors/tones of furniture, dance floor, carpet or other items as necessary.  Employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines and printers; employee will constantly communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee will frequently lift 30 lbs; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds; and push/pull 150 pounds, as business demands required. 

 

Work environment:

The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and when not operating equipment; and moderate to loud during event days when equipment is in operation. The work environment is consistently cool (cold) when ice rink is in place seasonally. Exposure to crowds with thousands of people in attendance, crowded or tight spaces, high elevation, consistently loud workspaces, and freight elevators.

The Server will provide ultimate hospitality for guests in a fast-paced, high volume environment.

  • Maintains knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered.

Overview

To monitor, control, and audit all financial transactions, and to perform a full range of professional accounting duties involved in fiscal management, record keeping, reporting and financial analysis of the facility. Also, supervising admin and accounting volunteer staff. this positions primary responsibility will preparing event workbooks for closing, tracking event invoices, and preparing event profit and loss statements. 

 

This role will pay a salary of $22 to $26. The role is currently 25-29 hours a week

Responsibilities

  • Process and prepare accounts payable invoices.
  • Verify & post entries to general ledger accounts; run trial balances
  • Detail processing for accounts receivable and collection calls for outstanding payments.
  • Process Box Office ticket reports and record transactions.
  • Assist with month end closing procedures.
  • Prepares select event settlements and sales journals.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare audit work papers and perform analysis of accounts.
  • Perform analysis of accounting records; prepare event profitability statements.
  • Prepare sales statements.
  • Perform related professional accounting work in support of accounting functions.
  • Apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and auditing work.
  • Examine and verify a variety of financial documents and reports.
  • Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
  • Operate a ten-key calculator by touch at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
  • Operate a computer to perform accounting functions.
  • Must have advanced Excel skills and experience.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration or a closely related field.
  • One year of professional accounting experience preferably including some supervisory experience. Some experience in building management industry preferred but not required
  • Must be accurate and efficient with ability to meet deadlines
  • Capable of working with all levels of management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook required
  • Must have advanced Excel skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite preferred.

Warehouse Worker

The Warehouse Worker is responsible for assisting in venue distribution/warehouse operations including inventory, receiving, purchasing, ordering, lay-ins, purchase order tracking, clean-up, transfers and equipment maintenance. This is a key position for the effective and profitable operation of the business.  The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule which includes evenings and weekends.  Open availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction and independent decision-making skills are required. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting with product purchasing/ordering, receiving and distribution control for the venue.
  • Maintain sanitation and organizational systems of all warehouse storage areas.
  • Fulfills all event expectations including but not limited to requisitioning during events, post-event break down, warehouse returns, equipment storage, sanitation and maintenance.
  • Oversee and ensure that appropriate stocking levels are met for each event; rotate and maintain integrity of product.
  • Ensure proper transfer process of product between locations, including follow-up documentation.
  • Assists in performing routine maintenance; responsible for concession and utility equipment cleaning and maintenance: portable equipment, burden carriers, carts, floors, refrigeration, and lighting. Ensure manifested equipment is in location.
  • Evaluate warehouse employee performance. Maintain employee records, written warnings, reviews and other related documents.
  • Conduct walk through of the commissary, warehouse and storage areas after the completion of the day to ensure all areas are clean.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, professional and courteous manner which fosters a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to make sound business/operations decisions (i.e. regarding employee placement, staffing adjustments, and/or respond to technical, product or equipment challenges during an event) quickly and under pressure.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Possess a thorough working knowledge of all existing concessions locations: geographical location, equipment, evacuation procedures, adjacent employee and guest areas, and facility access.
  • Possess valid Food Handlers certificate and Alcohol Service Permit if required by Provincial or local government.
  • Possess thorough working knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements, food preparation guidelines, alcohol service policies, safety standards, etc. pertaining to Spectra and venue concession operations.
  • Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation and product inventory.

Ability to consistently adhere to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics and confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years foodservice / hospitality experience; similar venue experience a plus.
  • Food service certification

Physical Dimensions:
Performing the duties of this position involves extensive and continuous standing and walking.  Routine activities require the employee to be able to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.  The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds.  The vision requirements include the ability to adjust focus, peripheral vision and close vision.
