Accounting Internship

Overview

The Accounting Internship position is based at our Ford Idaho Center location

 

Internship Structure and Expectations

  1. Internships are expected to be a 4-6 month commitment. This allows the student to experience the venue through multiple event cycles.
  2. Internships are considered part time with a varied weekly schedule requiring an estimated 20-30 hours per week depending on events as they impact accounting workflow.
  3. Learning agenda will include all aspects of venue management accounting cycles including a/p, a/r, event closing, month end closing activities, and financial statement preparation. 
  4. Interns will engage in weekly financial training calls discussing various accounting topics applied to venue managment.

Phases of internship are evaluated as follows: Orientation & training, Observation, Learning, and Implementation of skills and tasks.

Banquet Captain | Part-time

Overview

The Banquet Captain coordinates and oversees entire banquet function to ensure proper execution and ensure guest satisfaction.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $20.00.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews assigned banquet staff functions, banquet menus prior to the scheduled event.
  • Conducts pre-banquet meetings with staff to: ensure appearance and hygiene standards are being met; assign stations and partners; and review banquet event orders.
  • Communicates with the Executive Chef / Kitchen Manager or event coordinator to ensure that all details have been planned for and met. Ensures that changes and further instructions are made in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available for upcoming events. Secure requisitions for those items not available in inventory.
  • Checks room set-up prior to event and meets with Executive Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
  • Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e. china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and their proper storage after use.
  • Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service. Ensures that: food is served at appropriate temperature; food is placed properly on the table; sufficient food is available; and up sell opportunities are met.
  • Regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes, calendar of events, and special events.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Bartender

Overview

The Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They must be personable, professional and able to work in an ever changing fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Must demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellent in the areas of guest service, interaction with co-workers and uniform standards.

Cook - Part Time

The Cook is responsible for preparing menu items utilizing cooking equipment in a fast-paced environment. The Cook must adhere to high food quality standards to ensure guest satisfaction.  Portion control, food waste and sanitation are additional areas that the Cook must be aware of while operating in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cooking and packaging food product which is prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
  • Receives verbal orders from the front counter staff for food product requirements for guest orders.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and production standards on all menu items. Food must be fresh and of high quality when served to the guests.
  • Responsible for portion control and serving temperatures of all products served in the concession stand.
  • Responsible for cleaning, stocking and restocking of workstations and displays.
  • Responsible for operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers and ovens.
  • Ensures that all work areas and equipment are clean, food products are properly stored, utensils are clean and put away and floor is swept and mopped at end of shift. The Cook must be checked out before ending the shift by the Floor Supervisor to ensure the concession stand meets cleanliness standards.

Event Coordinator

Overview

The Event Coordinator is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of the events taking place in the venue including developing, coordinating, and supervising all event related activities key to the operation of the facility including but not limited to maintaining security staffing plans, labor management, collection and distribution of event information from promoter/show representatives/sports teams, billing preparation/support, customer service representation to our guests and logistics of departmental activities relating to events.

About the Venue

The Nampa Civic Center is a large conference & meeting center with the ability to host banquets, weddings, conferences, conventions, tradeshows, and other events. Second, a 640 seat theater is attached to the conference center that frequently hosts concerts, theatrical performances, and sporting events.

Responsibilities

  • Advance each show/event with appropriate show/promoter representative in a timely fashion
  • Communicates all event information to the appropriate Departments and staff
  • Develop, implement and manage event security plans in conjunction with event security provider and appropriate show/promoter representatives
  • Develop accurate event seating information with the Box Office Manager and Operations Manager, and ensures that event set-ups are accurate
  • Communicates in a timely manner with each Department Head regarding specific needs and information for each event
  • Prepares and distributes Event Data Sheet to all staff and Departments in a timely manner
  • Prepares post event report for all events coordinated
  • Meet with facility users to determine their needs & create a plan to accomplish them
  • Work with promoters and agents to coordinate facilitate client needs for each event and provide cost estimates as required/requested
  • Preparation of and submission of expenses for event settlement. Attend settlement if required
  • Executes other operational duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree from a college or university preferred
  • One year experience same or similar position in arenas, convention centers, stadiums or theaters preferred 
  • Ability to work flexible and sometimes demanding schedules (including nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, CAD and event planning software is preferred

Events Internship - Ford Idaho Horse Park

Overview

Internship Structure and Expectations

Internships are expected to last 3-6 months. This allows the student to experience the venue through multiple event cycles. Internships are considered part time with a varied weekly schedule requiring an estimated 12-24 hours per week depending on events. Nights and weekends will be required at times.

 

The learning agenda will include all aspects of Horse Park event management including advance, guest services, operations, administration, and parking.  Phases of internship are evaluated as follows: Orientation & training, observation, learning, and practice. 

 

Required / Provided items:

  • Interns will be expected to communicate via venue provided radio when on site.
  • Workstation for interns will be provided for work while on property at FIC.
  • PPE and event specific tools required for tasks specific to events will be provided by FIC.
  • Interns will be supervised and mentored individually by a designated senior staff member.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $14.00.

About the Venue

The Event Intern position is based at our Ford Idaho Center complex with specific focus on the events in the Horse Park. With more than 110 acres and the ability to house 850 horses, folks come from all over the country to make the Ford Idaho Horse Park their home for their horse show.

 

The Ford Idaho Horse Park hosts a variety of events each year, including NCHA, NRCHA, NRHA and Arabian championship shows. Each July, we also team up with the Snake River Stampede Rodeo which brings cowboys and cowgirls from all over the US and Canada to compete for top PRCA prize money. It goes without saying that the Ford Idaho Horse Park couldn’t have accomplished all that we have without those local organizations that also call us home for their events each year.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist with event management during events at the Ford Idaho Horse Park to ensure high level of guest satisfaction in all pertinent areas of event experience.
  2. Shadow the Event Manager in processing reservations & sundry items from horse park exhibitors, clients, and attendees.
  3. Assist with processing orders by running credit cards and logging money received.
  4. Work closely with Horse Park Manager to learn and assist with check in/out process & day-to-day operations of the events.
  5. Help coordinate and customize Welcome Packets for Horse Park event campers/attendees.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $15.00.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered.
  • Provides quick, attentive, friendly and professional service to banquet guests and is able to communicate clearly with all customers.
  • Ensures that food items are served at proper temperature and immediately upon availability from the kitchen, as ordered by the customer.
  • Ensures neat presentation of all ordered items, with no spill-over.
  • Pre-buses tables and full buses tables when necessary during peak periods.
  • Maintains availability to work during many peak periods.
  • Stocks beverage station(s) when necessary (ice, juices, glassware, sugar packets, etc).
  • Maintains high responsiveness to customer desires and requests.
  • Maintains a professional and clean appearance.
  • Communicates with wait staff, bus persons, bartenders, supervisors, and kitchen staff in order to improve communication and coordination so that patrons may be impressed by their dining experience.
  • Builds and maintains knowledge regarding bar offerings so that patron questions may be accurately answered

 

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume environment preferred
  • Must have a High School Diploma, G.E.D. or related Food Service Job Experience.
  • Must acquire and maintain a Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff and guest in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.

Warehouse Supervisor

Overview

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the effective supervision and running of venue distribution/warehouse operations including inventory, receiving, purchasing, ordering, lay-ins, purchase order tracking, clean-up, transfers and equipment maintenance.  The Warehouse Supervisor must provide a high level of event oversight, technical proficiency and operational/personnel support to ensure the smooth running of (or preparation for) any assigned event.  The Warehouse Supervisor will actively supervise, coach, counsel, direct, train and mentor employees in meeting company quality standards, and will independently initiate and authorize all employment actions such as hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, promotion and transfer.  The Warehouse Supervisor will actively and independently manage all aspects of employee relations to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant and cooperative work environment.

This is a key position for the effective and profitable operation of the business.  The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule which includes evenings and weekends.  Open availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction and strong management and independent decision-making skills are required. 

This role will pay a salary of $18 to $20.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for product purchasing/ordering, receiving and distribution control for the venue.
  • Ensure that established procedures for tracking purchase orders, requisitions, receiving dockets and perpetual inventor are maintained; report any deviation to the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain and manage sanitation and organizational systems of all warehouse storage areas.
  • Willing and available to assist with Premium Services or Concessions event operations as directed by the Operations Manager and the GM.
  • Provide direction to part-time warehouse staff to ensure all established lay-ins are completed for each event, in addition to requisitioning during events, post-event break down, warehouse returns, equipment storage, sanitation and maintenance.
  • Responsible for ensuring that purchase order system is adhered to for all orders received at each warehouse; verify proper specification, size, quantity, etc. of goods received; supervise proper labeling, dating and stocking of supplies.
  • Oversee and ensure that appropriate stocking levels are met for each event; rotate and maintain integrity of product.
  • Ensure proper transfer process of product between locations, including follow-up documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance; responsible for concession and utility equipment cleaning and maintenance: portable equipment, burden carriers, carts, floors, refrigeration, and lighting. Ensure manifested equipment is in location.
  • Evaluate warehouse employee performance. Maintain employee records, written warnings, reviews and other related documents.
  • Conduct walk through of the commissary, warehouse and storage areas after the completion of the day to ensure all areas are clean.
  • Oversee daily operation as either opening or closing manager on duty.
  • Assist Office Manager with daily/weekly/monthly sales and AR/AP when needed
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years foodservice / hospitality experience; similar venue experience a plus.
  • Forklift certification a plus
  • Food service certification
